The Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing has officially re-launched its laboratory unit today for the first time after 25 years. The laboratory shall be used to provide quality control for all building and construction materials. The lab consists of different sections which include; bricks inspection section, cement test section as well as asphalt verification section.
H.E Eng. Salah, the Minister of Public Works remarked that the Ministry had been struggling to have such functional laboratory for long time but was finally able to successfully put it in place today.
“Today we have got our laboratory re-opened and it took us more than 2 years to launch it” the minister said.
Minister Salah Sh. Osman called for all the construction companies to register with MoPWR to have the quality of their construction materials verified and properly inspected in order to ensure the safety and security of the environment and buildings.
The Ministry of Public Works used to have such quality control laboratory but was destroyed as a result of the civil war in the country.
